A family classic --- Pete's Dragon
Young Pete is in a terrible plight! Orphaned at the age of 8 (or so), he has been passed around from one wretched family to another, looked upon as a servant rather than the sweet little boy that he is. Most recently, a hooligan family who whips him and treats him as their slave has him in wretched possession. Little Pete is determined, once and for all, to run away from them.

With the help of his great green (pink-haired) dragon, whose sole purpose (unbeknownced to Pete) is to help him find a good home and loving family, he manages his escape. Hence, he finds himself in the strange town of "Quasimodo" (?). There, he meets the gentle but grief-stricken, Nora, and her "drunken" father, who keep the lighthouse in this coastal fisherman's community. They agree to take him in temporarily, and once having recognized his orphaned plight, they determine to help him find a home somehow. Meanwhile, invisible Elliott, the dragon is determined that THEY should be Pete's new home and family.

Will their love be enough to overlook the queerness of Pete's belief in a huge dragon that they can not see? Will Pete at last find a home and a family to care for him? What happens to Elliott? And, what happens when the horrible hooligan family comes to find and claim little Pete again?...
