ギリシア神話の改悪版
レイ・ハリーハウゼンも焼きが回ったナと感じさせられた『タイタンの戦い』のビデオ化作品です。　　サー・ローレンス・オリヴィエやマギー・スミス、シアン・フィリップスら錚々たる名優陣を揃えているにもかかわらず、そしてゴルゴーン・メドゥーサやペーガソス、オルトロス風の怪犬などが出てきたというのに、やや期待はずれとの印象をもたれた向きも少なくはなかったのではないでしょうか？　　それもその筈で、レイ・ハリーハウゼンも最盛期を過ぎて“怪物クラーケン”の動きもぎこちなかったし、監督のギリシア神話の潤色も単なる改悪という感を免れなかったからです。そして案の定、その後「特撮技術」は総じてCGを駆使したSFXの世界へと転向していったのでしたよね。

Jane Austen好きの私Bath に彼女の足跡をたどり記念館でNorthanger　Abbey　ももとめ今度はサウンドトラックCDを聞いてみたくなりました。今はSense and Sensibility を読んでいますが４０年ほど前の学生時代に読んだ　Pride and Prejudiceも読みたいと思っています。
娘が英国人と結婚していますので１８世紀英国も含め歴史と生活にはおおいに興味があります。

It is a two reeler. We could use three
"I have no inside information on how the kingdom of God is to come about"
This film is two stories that are intertwined. The major one is to do with the coming of power of Anthony Quinn as Kiril Lakota and how he will deal with a world hunger crises. The second is how David Janssen as George Faber (necessary to describe how the Vatican works) and his wife Barbara Jefford will settle their differences. Mean while we get a glimpse of the depth of Kiril as he help a dying man.

Based on a story by Morris West, the film depicts the life of a priest that has a unique background and rises through the ranks groomed for a purpose. The purpose and his unique Christian solution are reviled in time.

Look closely as the real gem of the movie is Oskar Werner as Fr. David Telemond who is the embodiment of Teilhard de Chardin and uses many of his quotes. Further information "Phenomenon of Man" by Pierre Teilhard De Chardin ISBN: 006090495X.

Only two shots left
This is a 2004 view of what a 1930’s view of the future could look like. Most of the CGI and blue-screen overlays had to be a tad fuzzy to make the scenes work. The language may be a tad stilted but it also is designed to be a thirties movie rendition.

Seems that somewhere towards the end of the last war a brilliant scientist with a vision disappeared and the whole Group 11 project was disbanded. Today top scientists are going missing and it is up to Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) reporter-photographer to find the reason. Mean while it looks as though a destructive minus is ravaging the city (looking for something) and the only person capable of foiling the evil plot is, you guessed it, Joe "Sky Captain" Sullivan (Jude Law, of “GATTACA” fame).

Eventually Joe runs out of gas and only Franky (Angelina Jolie) can save him if there is time. Meanwhile Polly finds that her camera has only two shots left; can she make the best of them?

How can this daring duo and their pals foil the nefarious plot that may prove fatal to the world as we know it?
