アンジェリーナ・ジョリー、ジョン・キューザック、ケイト・ブランシェット、ビリー・ボブ・ソーントン。役者を揃えたからってイイ映画ができるとは限らないが、本作は○。一人一人の個性が際立っているのに、うまくバランスがとれて心地よいハーモニーを奏でている。そんな良さを味わって欲しい一作です。

原作が大評判の映画化。サム・ライミの盟友コーエン兄弟の「ファーゴ」を彷彿させる作品ですが、こちらの方がかなりシリアス。「ファーゴ」に見られたユーモアは皆無です。原作=物語はさほど目を見張るののではありませんが、サム・ライミの演出が凄くいいです。言い過ぎですがつまらない物語を一流にしている様。地味なキャスティングもいいです。

感動作品としてだけではなく、善と悪についてさりげなく考えさせられた作品でした。お薦めです。

Fun, funny, and memorable
Of the modern westerns (1990 on) I would have to rank this little film as being the best. The characters are wonderfully acted, the pacing is sublime, and the script is witty and playful. To be sure, this is no tradition John Wayne or Gary Cooper western and it pales in comparison, but for those new to the genre and looking for a more Hollywood approach to westerns, this is the film for you. Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell both put in great performances. Definitely worth seeing.
