コンドスブラザースが出ていて、最後のほうには一瞬ですが、得意のウイングも披露してくれます。

面白いです。現代の寓話
「機会を与えられればどんな貧しい人間でも立派に成功できる」という自説を持つ裕福な老紳士と、「そんなことはありえない」と唱えるもう一人のお金持ちの老紳士。二人は、マーフィー演じる黒人のチンピラとエイクロイド演じるお金持ちのぼんぼんを入れ替えて、どうなるか実験することにした・・・。

ホントに面白いですし、いろいろなことを物語る現代の寓話でもあると思います。私個人は「大金持ちとチンピラは紙一重」と思ってしまった！

NickとSteveのCondos brothers
白人リズムタップの最高峰、the Condos brothers は、Frank, Nick, Steve の３人兄弟です。１９３８年の本作では、Nick と Steve が specialty tap dancer として出演しています。ちなみに、Condos brothers には Harry という名前も見えます。当方が調べた限りでは Nick と Harry は同一人物のようです。事情は分かりませんけれど、Nick は １９４０年ごろ？から Harry と名乗ることにしたものと思われます。
　本作の見所は、インディアンの扮装をした Condos brothers が凄いスピードと驚異的なテクニックでタップを踊るところです。若き日の steve が出演している映画でヴィデオ化されているのは本作だけのようなので貴重です。

The grasshopper…
This movie is a work of art on many levels. We have seen the premise many times for example “Being There” (1979) and “The Man Who Knew Too Little” (1997).

Only those films relied on dumb luck or just dumb. Where as this film portrayed principle, friendship, and the person overcoming the situation without being so ignorant that he misses the point. Several times you want to close your eyes because you just know what is going to happen. And then it doesn't. One of my favorite scenes was the telling of the "Grasshopper and the ant" This is a microcosm of the movie.

The basic story is about a shoeshiner taking the place of a killer in exchange for his dream of a boat after three years of incarceration. With three days to go before the trial, the person assigned to watch him decides to give the shoeshiner one last fling. Starting off with mistaken identity and complications snowballing from there.
