Story Based on Goodman, G.J.W. "Wheeler Dealers, The"

Song "THE WHEELER DEALERS" By Randy Sparks, Sung by The New Christy Minstrels

Henry Tyroon (James Garner) is a rich man, and a rich man can not afford to go broke. So he is off to New York to do some wheeling dealing. According to Henry Tyroon: "You don't go wheelin' 'n' dealin' for money. You do it for fun. Money's just the way you keep score. " And what a score that includes oil, cabs, and widgets.

Lee Remick plays Molly Thatcher, a Wall Street broker who just wants to be one of the boys. Naturally she is going to see what wheeling and dealing is all about.

There are too many memorable things to quote in this film. However I still get a thrill watching speculative movies where the say "did aliens build this?" and remembering the speculation statements like "will our government fall behind the Russians in widget production?"

このころ夫婦がベッドで寝ているシーンがあるだけで話題になった
グレース・ケリーが危険な任務を負った兵士の妻を演じた映画。
夫役のウィリアム・ホールデンとケリーが一つのベッドに寝て
会話をすシーンは当時としては色っぽかったのか（？）話題に
なりました。ケリーの気品と美しさは健在です。

It passes time.
William Holden does a pretty good job or portraying a prisoner in a stalag during World War II.

Unlike the TV program “Hogan's Heroes” this movie is more serious yet it has its amusing moments. However there is nothing to make this movie stand out past any other stalag escape films. It is more of a time passer.

Maybe the play that this film was based on executed better?

　「スリルの全て」は、sophisticated comedyの傑作「Pillow Talk」、Doris Day が大スターとしての地位を確立したミュージカルコメディの異色作「Calamity Jane」につぐ傑作。周知のように、ドリス・デイといえば「永遠の母親」、理想のアメリカンな母親のイメージがありますすけれど、その中でも本作はそのイメージを決定付ける名演（というより「地」か？）。この頃のドリスはまさに無敵で、向かうところ敵なしの「ｔｈｅ ｔｏｐ ｂｏｘ ｏｆｆｉｃｅ 」でした。ドリス・デイ・ワールドに入りこんでしまえば、可笑しくって笑いきれない、ｈａｐｐｙになれる映画です。人類の歴史がある限り、この世にお母さんがある限り、その魅力とスター性は永遠に不滅。日本版ＤＶＤが出たら即効買いでしょう。

I'm Beverly Boyer and I'm a pig
Dr. Gerald Boyer (James Garner) helps a woman to become pregnant “in his role as a doctor”. He is the classic conservative husband who assumes that his wife would stay home and make catsup while he earns the living. However, after being offered an enormous amount of money Beverly Boyer (Doris Day) decides to take a job doing commercials for the family that James Garner helped.

On the TV shows that Beverly Boyer does the advertisement on, each week Carl Reiner gets to play a different character (same plot) bad guy. They say it is too subtle for the audience to notice that it is the same script. After all, we do not notice that the same plots run through most TV programs today.

Naturally this upsets Dr. Gerald Boyer. So he devises a scheme to rectify the situation. The interplay between the characters keeps us laughing.

No one can tell me that the original person slated to sell Happy Soap, Spot Checker (Pamela Curran), could not sell ME soap from a bathtub. Ha, Not risqué huh?

This is a great 60's comedy and if you like the over flowing soap suds scene then you will also enjoy "Bachelor in Paradise" (1961) with Bob Hope.

ドリス・デイ・コレクションその２に入れて下さい
邦題「スリルのすべて」。国内発売されたＤＶＤ３本セット「ドリス・デイ・コレクション」に何故か漏れてしまいました。これが一番面白いと思っているのにとても残念です。第二弾をやるならば、是非入れて下さい。小学生の頃ＴＶで見て、とても面白かったという記憶があるぐらいで、監督がノーマン・ジュイスンだったなんて、その後何年も経ってから知りました。ソフィスティケーテッド・コメディというと、直ぐに浮かんでくるのが、実はビリー・ワイルダーの諸作ではなくこの映画なんです。幼少の頃のすり込みというのは、だから怖いんですね。子どもには、下らない暴力映画やホラー映画なんか見せるのは絶対にやめましょう。
