Visions of the Vietnam War
This American TV series shows the lives of woman who were involved in the Vietnam war. It is located at an American facility on China Beach, located near DaNang in Vietnam. Dana Delaney portrays Colleen McMurphy a Lieutenant and head nurse at the hospital on China Beach. There are a variety of characters including the local madam, K.C; the tortured lifeguard, Boonie who cannot go back "in country"; Laurette, the USO songer with a heart of gold; Cherry White, a young Red Cross volunteer who has come to Vietnam to find her MIA brother; Dodger, the strong, silent soldier who tries to save as many people as possible; Lila, the army career woman who takes her job very seriously; the wise-cracking doctor (creating some comparisons with Hawkeye from M*A*S*H) Dick Richard; the resident "grim reaper" - or so he is often viewed - GRU Private Becker and Natch the smooth pilot. This video is the pilot episodes for the American TV series that went on to complete 4 series. Unfortunately, the series has yet to be released on video. However, this video serves as an insight into Vietnam - albeit a sanitised and cheery version for television. It is an entertaining dramatic series and I would recommend it to those who have an interest in the Vietnam war or even an interest in human relations under pressure!
