John Cleves (Jason Robards) The married man with which she has an understanding (every Wednesday), comes up with a scheme to pay for the apartment as a company location for guests. John is very thoughtful he tells Ellen that He will be getting a divorce "now where have we heard that one before?" And even gives her a diamond bracelet (which happens to have the company logo imbedded.)

Ditsy secretary (Ann Prentiss) send irate supplier (Dean Jones) to stay at guest location as it was designed for. As you can guess things get convoluted from there. Who gets the girl? Who does the girl want? Does wife (Rosemary Murphy) ever get wise? What is the importance of sleeves and balloons?
If you liked "Sunday in New York", You will love this.

繊細な情感、心優しき名作
邦題「愛すれど心さびしく」。アラン・アーキンが聴覚障害を持つ孤独な時計職人を見事に演じ、若い（たぶんデビュー作）ソンドラ・ロックがアーキンの下宿先の家に住む多感な年頃の娘を演じる。アーキンは同じ施設にいた、知的障害を持つ友人のことが気がかりでしょうがなく、娘の奔放さにも惑わされるが、地道な人生を歩もうとする。しかし、ふとしたことがきっかけで…という結末は余りに悲しく、涙なしには見られない。こんなに心優しく、繊細な情感を描いた米国映画は、最近ではちょっとお目にかかれないし、当時としてもあまりほかには見あたらなかった。監督は「スイート・ノーベンバー」のオリジナル「今宵限りの恋」や、「水曜ならいいわ」「きんぽうげ」等の佳篇を作っているロバート・エリス・ミラー。本作がベストの出来ばえだ。日本版ビデオは遙か昔に出されたきりだが、是非ＤＶＤ化をお願いしたい名作。
