A pretty good "and then there were none" movie.
Yep, you can say all you want about what this movie is not. However you watch a movie for what it is. The movie is packed with seasoned actors. The story is just as spooky as any scary movie and the plot gets revealed in little doses as the protagonists are slowly eliminated. Even the elimination has a clear reason and serves the end purpose.

This does have a 70's TV movie feel however they made some good TV movies in the 70's. This did not require exotic graphics. And the end was appropriate with enough leeway to start a series.

The person that playas the nurse/cat (Margaret Tyzack) can be seen again as a mysterious person in "Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, V. 7: Nemesis" (1986)

実生活ホラー
キャサリン・ロスとサム・エリオットの当時つき合っていた二人が主演の映画。よくあるラブコメではなくホラーというのがお気に入りです。ちょっと大人締めの映画ですが二人が抜け出そうと町をさまようシーンは不安で息苦しくなるほど。異様なエンディングを迎えますがそれが主演二人の実生活にも重なってるようで面白い。

何度このサイトを検索したことか。この錚々たるキャストを見たまえ。
ジェイムス・メイスン、クルト・ユルゲンス、イライ・ウォラック、ジャック・ホーキンスそしてピーター・オトゥール。 先に書き込まれている諸氏の情報に付け加えるものを持たず申し訳ないが、ブルックス監督のもと、この連中と入り乱れる在りし日の斉藤達雄と伊丹一三の仕事を、ただただ見てみたいばかりなのです。

イーライ・ウォラック
ジョセフ・コンラッドの小説を映画化した作品は沢山あるが、
個人的にはこの「ロード・ジム」と、キャロル・リードにしては
失敗作、という不名誉な評価を受けている「文化果つるところ」
が好きだ。
プライドを失ってしまった男が一度はそれを取り戻し、
また失う。
苦い苦い結末である。

狂気を含んだ青い目のオトゥール、うす汚れたクルト・ユルゲンス、若き伊丹十三もそれぞれいいが、イーライ・ウォラックが最高！
「荒野の七人」からのタイプ・キャストである。
「地獄の黙示録」のマーロン・ブランドを上回る怪演ぶりだ。

Finding a needle in a hay stack
There are not enough stars to describe this movie. As with any movie, if the entire book were portrayed, the movie would take eight hours. Therefore they could only show the relevant parts and had to do some voice over action to explain the missing logic. But they did not change the plot or the essence of the plot. And I would not think in a million years that Donald Sutherland would be picked to play Henry Faber. Yet now that I see the movie, He is the only person that could be believable as an attractive aloof German spy. Where did they find Kate Nelligan, who played Lucy so well? The island "Isle of Mull, Scotland, UK" looked just like the book. I am glad this is on DVD, as the as tapes tend to ware out.

Hitler must ultimately decide what threats are real and when. He relies on the one man he knows can accomplish the task of finding out the truth by sending him to England. The Needle a deep cover spy who is so confident that he does not let the intermediate folk get in his way.

Will he be discovered? First they have to believe that he actually exists. Then they have to find him. If they can find him, can they stop him?

The story line is intriguing. Yet it is the people interaction (loyalty, love, and credibility) and the attitude of "The Needle" that make the story. Ultimately the question is will he succeed and what effect will this have on future generations of those who knew him?

求むＤＶＤ化！！！
現在進行中のエピソード１～３より、絶対４～６ですよ！　なぜって、ボクの青春時代と同時進行したシリーズですから、思い出もいっぱいです。でも、最近は小４の息子と１・２も観て感動してますけどね・・・現在我が家には、４～６のＬＤ、特別編トリロジーＢＯＸビデオ、昔ＴＶで放送した時の録画ビデオ、最近ＴＶ放送された特別編録画ビデオとありますが、早くＤＶＤで観たいものです。４のハン・ソロが助けに来るシーン、５のファルコン号で小惑星帯を逃げるシーン、６のダース・ベイダーが改心するシーン、ＤＶＤで新たな感動を！！

ＣＧよりも・・・
最近「エピソード２」が公開されましたが、私は最初の三部作（エピソード４・５・６）の方が好きです。確かにＣＧ技術の面から見ると、エピソード２の方が勝っていますが、最初の三部作には何か惹きつけられるものがあります。この三部作は、アメリカ現代映画の基盤ともいえるものではないでしょうか？

買いでしょう・・・
やっぱり安さでしょう。私はこの三作のビデオも保持してるのですが！！さらに古きよきもののひとつ、レーザーディスクまで。全部あわせていくらかかったかわかりません。それなのになぜ、この破格ともいえる安さでDVDを発売するなんて・・。手軽に見れる面ではビデオと大差ないし、画質で言えばレーザーディスクに勝るでしょう（LDも綺麗ですよ）。次いで、SWエピソードⅡのメイキング付き。この特典が恨めしい！！

と、いうことで、家で何回も見たい人にはいい作品です。
