小さな本ですが、ワインに関する情報がぎっしりつまってます。2001年に飲み頃のおすすめワイン、生産者やブドウの品種、製法等について書かれており、ワインに関して知りたいことがほとんど網羅されています。軽い本なので、実際にお店で選ぶときにも持っていけます。毎年、新しい版がでるので記載されてる情報も最新のものとなっています。翻訳されて日本語版もでているのですが、そちらは2年に一度の発行ですし、価格もオリジナルの洋書の方がはるかに安いです。初心者から愛好家まで、ワインに興味のある人に、とてもおすすめの本だと思います。

Hugh Johnson's Pocket Encyclopedia of Wine 2001
This is one of the two best "pocketbook" descriptions of wine (the other is Parker's). You have to know something about wine before you can understand the terse descriptions, but if you do you can pop this book into your pocket when you want to browse your local wine shop or choose a wine from a restaurant menu. Getting all this information into such a tiny format is not easy. It is a toss-up whether Johnson or Parker are better at this job, the former being elitist conservative and the latter being fresh and rebellious. But you can't loose with either, and you might as well buy both!
