ロマノフ家の残照
　著者はロマノフ家の皇女を祖母に、デンマーク王家の血筋を引くギリシア王を祖父に持つ1939年生まれのプリンス　ミハイル。クレムリン博物館ダイアモンド庫の収蔵品を中心に相続者や有名オークションハウスからもまとめて写真の提供を受けられるのは、単なる研究者ではない著者の為せる技。
　エカテリーナ二世からロシア革命以後にわたるロマノフ家のジュエリィが紹介されている。皇帝一家以外のプリンセスでも結婚式には皇室レガリアの着用を許された等インサイダーならではの解説も興味深い。
肖像画や末裔所蔵の写真にはロシア宮廷独特のアイテムや他の王家にもまして豪奢を誇った宝飾品の数々が溢れている。
　ファベルジェ関連を除けばロマノフ家のジュエリィに関する本は英語版でも希少。個々の作品のデータの記載や一部の写真に不満はやや残るが画期的な本の登場である。
