サウナのショーで歌っていた駆け出しの頃からから、自らのコンサート映画でスターになるまで、ベット・ミドラーはいつも滑稽なくらいの陽気さをパフォーマンスに持ちこんできた。本作は、数多くの音源の中からラジオでヒットした曲を中心に選曲しているが、元気な「Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy」もある。ミドラーは、いとも簡単に楽曲にぴったりの声を出す。「When a Man Loves a Woman」にはむき出しの官能がみなぎっているが、「In My Life」は子守唄のように優しい。最近のスタンダードナンバーも収録され、「From a Distance」「Wind Beneath My Wings」とともに、出世作となった「The Rose」もある。コール・ポーター（「Miss Otis Regrets」）を歌おうとも、ビートルズを歌おうとも、ミドラーの声は曲の求めるままにダイナミックにも表現力豊かにもなる。ミドラーの鋭い解釈力はいつも的を得ているわけではないが、カヴァー曲を、その曲のこれまでレコーディングされたトラックの中でも指折りのヴァージョンにしている。（Steve Gdula, Amazon.co.uk）

Indeed, apart from a most versatile voice, Bette Midler is blessed both with good songwriters / good taste in choice of cover, as well as the realisation that one must NEVER OVERDO.
A fun album--makes you feel like being in one of them song clubs one sees in 50s movies. (The worst thing that can be said against her is that she talks rather loquaciously before some songs--something which I attribute to her origins, and regard as very down-to-earth warm.)
