2歳ごろからはじめれば一番効果が得られたのではないかと思います。
ママのセリフは誉め言葉も含めて全て書いてある通りに読めばよいので、
英語育児を始めたばかりのママにもとてもよい教材です。
毎日1レッスン15分程度（2歳児ぐらいの場合）で終わらせることができるでしょう。
英語の読みへの導入に素晴らしい本だと思います。

Highly recommended book!
I bought this book upon the recommendation of a friend who was using it with her own son. My daughter was then 4 years old (now she's 5), and had started to show interest in reading by sounding out 2 to 3-letter words that she'd see around her. She already knew phonics and liked to do alphabet workbooks even before I bought this book. What I liked about this book is its structured and easy-to-follow program. It does entail a lot of patience and effort from the parent. Being a full-time working mom (incidentally, I teach English to pre-schoolers), this book worked best for me and my daughter. We spent about 10 to 15 minutes each night for each lesson, and as we progressed, same time for just half a lesson. My daughter's favorite part is the story text, which gets longer and more difficult as you go along, and the accompanying picture comprehension. You don't have to follow the script word for word (I did not), and you could skip some nights if your child is not up to it (I did). It took us 7 whole months to finish the book (just before my daughter's 5th birthday), but it was well worth it. My efforts, as well as my daughter's, paid off. Even before we finished the book, my daughter was able to read "early readers" books. I'm glad she has become a voracious reader. Now SHE reads to me before she goes to bed every night, instead of the other way around! I do highly recommend this book.

そのまま読み聞かせれば、リーディング力がつく本
この本は本当によくできていて、教えるべきことがセリフのように書かれているので、そのまま読めばよいようになっています。もちろんセリフは英語ですが、Sound out the word～とかTake a good look at～とか定型のものばかりなのでそれほど難しくはありません。また、Good Reading!などとホメどころまで書いてあります。基本的にはフォニックスですが、例外が結構多いフォニックスの欠点をカバーするため、特殊な記号とアルファベットを組み合わせて、一文字一発音を実現しています。例えば、通常のaはア、上に線がついているaはエイ（サイレントeがついているときの発音）と別文字表記になっています。
