Tempted to go lower
I don't understand why I don't like this book. It has the undead and dead running around, and the heroine is snappy--and all the reviewers seem to enjoy her. But I just don't. The book just seems to tumble out random thought, background, and 'oh-this-is-how-it-all-works-in-my-little-magical-world--la di dah'. In just that first chapter, what could have been a despirate flight just gets lost in all that noise. It's like reading her RPG info smashed into the narrative. Other writers do it, but it's just too much here, like the author isn't willing to sprinkle the info out, just let us enjoy the world. I was tempted many times to stop reading. All that choking mess just crammed in front of me, hmm, yeah, I'll go 2 now instead of 3. I won't be getting more of her books. Even as the book ironed out a bit I couldn't shake my disturbance.
